Two things...
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Thu July 20th, 2006 at 10:59:14 am
1. It has been QUITE a while since new news has been posted. This coincides (coincidentally) with my partaking of World of Warcraft. They are totally unrelated though, I swear!

2. We are fast approaching the 6 year anniversary of Decus Praesidium, which was founded on July 25, 2000. Please help us celebrate by ... sending me lots of money!

Well I suppose I should write something to show Decus is still a viable entity hehe. So, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valentines Day, Happy Easter, Happy Memorial Day, and soon-to-be Happy Independence Day America!

New Forums Installed
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Wed May 05th, 2004 at 10:59:03 am
After years and years...and even MORE years, I've finally convinced DP to switch to a new forum - phpBB2! Ok, I didn't so much as "convince" them as I did just basically pull the rug out from under their feet, but the end result is the same: it's a smashing success!

This will make adminning the forum so much easier, and the new forum is very customizable and user friendly. Yes, the spammers lose the ability to create VOIDs - and let me tell you, we've had some very memorable VOIDs over the years, but all in all I think the PROs definitely outweigh the CONs.

The link to the new forums can be found in the regular spot - under The Gathering, but the link title has changed from "The Tavern" to "Forums". So go go go go!!!

New Poll!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Mon August 18th, 2003 at 07:30:54 pm
I've put up a new poll regarding member/guest donations. It's located down there on the left, below the donation link (go ahead, take a look, I'll be right here when you come back!).

Please take a moment to cast your vote. I want to know what the prevalent opinion is regarding publication of donators and donations. Here's your chance, make your voice heard!

Happy Belated Anniversary Decus Praesidium!

Donations to DP

Hi everyone,

I've been providing this website free for everyone for almost 3 years now, and it's be a pleasure and a privilege to do so. I've taken a few donations from members, but over the years the majority of costs have come out of my pocket. I'm kindly asking everyone to consider subscribing to this website to help offset the costs of keeping this website running. It's a minimal cost of $5 per month, automatically renewed monthly unless cancelled. Please click the button below to subscribe to DP through PayPal.

If you do not have a PayPal account, you can set one up by using this link as well. Please make sure I'm listed as your referral, as I get a small kickback from PayPal.

I am a:

Thank you!

Has it really been THAT long??
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Sat July 05th, 2003 at 08:56:37 pm
Since the anniversary of Decus Praesidium is once again almost upon us, I decided to take a look back at news I posted in previous years regarding this event. Needless to say, I was a bit ... chagrined as to how long it's been since I've posted any news here. Can I safely use "I've been busy" as an excuse? For better or worse, it's the story I'm sticking to!

Anyway, as I mentioned previously, the Decus Praesidium Anniversary is soon approaching - July 25, 2003 will mark 3 years of existence for this fine guild. Look for a special anniversary graphic on that date commemorating the event.

Due to "popular" demand!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Fri November 01st, 2002 at 05:50:40 pm
At the risk of offending BRAVE, I am officially ending his self-declared "15 minutes of fame", as being subject of the top news story since August!

I'm posting a new news message by request (okay, 1 person, but still, 1 IS more than 0!).

So, what has happened since August? Hmmm, well, 3 months have come and gone. The new school year began almost 2 months ago. Summer officially ended, and winter superceded autumn (in some areas of the US - NY particularly!). Oh, and a "little" thing - Quellia and Evandar of Snakegod have a new bouncing baby boy! Congratulations you two!

The DPers have moved on from Dungeon Siege and are now attempting a solid d.p. in NWN. They are currently using Signal's Andalusia server as a tromping grounds, until the Andalusia world is officially released. Trials and tribulations abound, but it seems like they're still having lots of fun, and that's what it's all about, right?

Oh, and SOMEONE keeps trying to start a VOID on the DP forum, which I, being the responsible webmaster that I am, have put an end to it before it was able to get out of hand. That'll teach them rascals they can't pull that crap on MY watch! Huzzah!

BRAVE made me do it!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Fri August 09th, 2002 at 10:54:49 am
I wanted to keep the D2 poll up FOREVER, but noooo, that's not good enough for SOME people (hint hint, nudge nudge)!

Someone, who shall remain nameless, requested that I delete the poll RE: Diablo 2 from the front page, so being the good webmaster I am, off it went! I'm so sad...sniff...

It was only up for 9 months! ;-)

Oh umm, and don't even BEGIN to question why it's been almost 5 months since the last news article (hopefully my aggressive stance will convince you to BACK AWAY SLOWLY)!

Ppfftt I say, ppfftt!

You Know How It Goes!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Sun March 10th, 2002 at 12:15:27 pm
Yea yea, the old saying "Boy, how time flies!". Well, I'm using that old saying in excess right now!

It's been...2 1/2 months since the last news article was posted, and I've got many many excuses - most of them lame. Sorry!

Anyway, DP is still thriving, as evidenced by the recent message board activity. Thanks to all the members for making this a great community to be a part of, and continuously upholding the ideals that brought us all here in the first place. Thanks too to all our friends and visitors for coming around and interacting with all us old fogies! But remember, please don't feed us, you never know what kind of wild animals we might turn into! :)

And finally, congrats go out to our D2DP for keeping the spirit of online cooperative gaming alive!

Merry Christmas to all our members, friends, and families!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Mon December 24th, 2001 at 08:56:42 pm
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays to all Decus members for making this guild such a joy to be a part of, our friends, both real life and online, and all our families!

Look for more good things from Decus in 2002 (and even this website - maybe!).

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Thu November 22nd, 2001 at 10:09:54 am
Eat, drink, and be merry, but don't stuff yourself, drive, or hurt anyone either!

Gobble gobble!

Maybe Some Site Updates?
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Thu November 08th, 2001 at 01:42:10 pm
Yea it's that time of year again, I'm thinking about doing some site modifications. Nothing too radical, as I really like this design and want to keep the basic framework the same, but I was working on some new gizmos and gadgets and I'd like to implement them ... sometime. I've been so busy with work and domestic things that it's really sapped my will to do web stuff. But I really should get off my butt and keep working.

Also, I upgraded to Win2kPro a couple weeks ago, and I'm learning all the subtle (and not-so-subtle) nuances of the OS. It's *definitely* more stable than Win98. After using Win2kPro just a couple weeks, I can't believe it took me so long to upgrade - but it took me over a year to switch from Win3.1 to Win95 too hehe, so I do have a history of being slow ;)

I purchased Windows 2000 Administrator's Pocket Consultant and Windows 2000 & IIS 5.0 Adminstrator's Pocket Consultant to help me learn this stuff. Pretty good stuff!

Ubi Soft - Pool of Radiance: The Ruins of Myth Drannor - Major Issue
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Tue October 02nd, 2001 at 11:20:42 pm
The Adrenaline Vault reported that Ubi Soft's latest release - Pool of Radiance: The Ruins of Myth Drannor - contains a MAJOR bug.

It seems that upon installation, the install will cause the PC it is being loaded on to lock up. When the PC is then rebooted, and another install attempted, you will be presented with only the option to uninstall. If you perform the uninstall routine, the uninstaller will delete major system files, causing the PC to basically become unresponsive and unbootable, thereby trashing the OS, for all intents and purposes.

This major bug has been reported by many people, and Ubi Soft is fervently working on a patch to fix this. The offer their apologies and regrets for damage caused by this.

I smell lawsuits and a huge loss reported by Ubi Soft in the coming months!

Reality Strikes...Brutally
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Thu September 13th, 2001 at 09:09:13 am
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, 2 hijacked commercial airplanes slammed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, the first at 8:50am Eastern, and the second 18 minutes later. Minutes afterward, another hijacked commercial airliner plummeted into one facade of the Pentagon. And less than 1/2 hour after that, a 4th hijacked commercial airplane plunged to the ground 80 miles south east of Pittsburgh, PA. All 4 hijackings were related to a very complex plot to inflict terrorism upon America, and the free world. All 4 planes were immediately destroyed. In the aftermath of these terrorist attacks, both WTC towers were removed from the NYC skyline forever.

Woops! Blizzard Insider Prematurely Released!
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Sat September 01st, 2001 at 11:10:57 pm
diabloii.net reports that Blizzard Entertainment prematurely released the Blizzard Insider email a few days early, which contains some *very* interesting news about their huge upcoming release. When I first heard that Blizzard was planning a gigantic release, I just knew they'd gone and decided to join the MMORPG ranks. And below for your enjoyment, is the story, straight from diabloii.net.

WoW Indeed. - Elly [1:07:PST]

It seems the cat is out the bag. Unfortunately, (especially for the person who emailed them out) a few copies of the Blizzard Insider made their way into the outside world. It is now on numerous major gaming news sites, so there's no point in us keeping quiet about it any longer. Clearly this edition was due for release on Sunday as the top news story reads.

"During a press conference today at the European Computer Trade Show, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer, online role-playing game set in the rich fiction of Blizzard's Warcraft universe."

One quick-fingered eager beaver managed to save a partial copy which includes the full news item plus a small picture which you can see here.

We've updated our page about the new title with the one image from it, and info about the info leaks. There is also the third in the series of concept art pictures up on Blizzard.com now, and you can see links to that as well.

Update: Paradox took his magnifying glass and has been looking for more clues on Blizzard's teaser pictures. He noticed a small party of travellers on the right and you can clearly see the leader is a small orchish type character.

It's finally here, Diablo v1.09 CD2 and D2X was released to the community yesterday. Lots of changes in store for all players, including Single/Open players!

Changes on the horizon?
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Wed August 15th, 2001 at 05:22:45 pm
Over the next few weeks, things around here may start to look a bit different. Well, quite a bit different. Yes, it's true, I'm thinking about yet another site redesign!

I have this really rough draft for an idea in my head, and once I can quantify it in an image, or a combo of images and code, I'll begin the work in earnest. I think it'll be a knockout design once I get it worked out.

So, stay tuned, the house may be getting new siding soon!

DP D2 DP
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Sat August 04th, 2001 at 03:07:07 pm
I'd just like to take this time to mention the DP D2 DP that has been going on for months now.

This is a group of intrepid adventurers, mostly DP members, who gather at a predetermined time to take on the minions of hell in D2 (now D2X). They work as a team and share all the goodies they may find.

This group has really helped to keep Decus Praesidium together, and made this a warm, welcoming community!

To view specifics of the DP D2 DP, go to the links section, look under Personal Website Links, and click on the DP D2 Heroes Website link.

Links Section Fixed
- Arioch (arioch@dp-guild.org) Tue July 31st, 2001 at 07:27:49 pm
Brought to my attention a few weeks ago by Raven, when I updated the javascript on this site, I inadvertently deleted the function that controls the link list on the Links page. Well, lo and behold, I forgot all about it until today when I was once again reminded of the issue by Raven.

So to make a long story short, or to get to the point of the story, the link list works again. Sorry for the delay and if you have any links you'd like to add to the list, please email them to me with a brief description. My email address is provided in the header to all my news articles.
